You log into your football association’s database where you can see the matches which you will referee.  Download them to your SPINTSO pda (see manual and screen dumps).  Alternatively, you can manually enter the player numbers and even names if you wish directly into your SPINTSO pda before the match (see manual).  After the match log into the association’s database and transfer the match file from your SPINTSO pda.  The association’s database automatically matches your match report containing player numbers to the players’ name from the club’s uploaded team information.

Your unit shows the same match time and any extra time as on the referee’s unit (when the referee stops his stopwatch, yours stops too).  It also shows the same information on your and the referee’s display eg cautions, goals, etc.

 You can start sound recording on all connected unit in the event of an on-pitch altercation

You can communicate with the referee by pressing the PROG button which attracts his/her attention via a vibration signal.

You must never press TIME after the first half, allow the watch to run as the stopwatch for the half time interval starts.  You only press TIME when you will start the second half.  If you have stopped the stopwatch, go into the function and restart so the second half timing begins.

Prepare by accessing the kickoff team before you enter the pitch.  After the toss of the coin, can you simply press home or away team.

You can use your unit in exactly the same way as before.  We however recommend that you regularly visit www.spintso.com so that you do not miss any important function updates which will make your unit even better.

Spintso informs users in good time about new updates via the website www.spintso.com.  You log in with your login details and download and save the updates to your computer following the onscreen instructions, see www.spintso.com.  You can download directly to the unit but Spintso recommend that you save first to your computer; if the download malfunctions for any reason this can create problems in the unit.

Once or twice a year there may be new updates.

If you have opened or in any way interfered with the unit, the guarantee and service no longer apply.

The operational guarantee and service for the SPINTSO pda apply for 2 years and 1 year for SPINTSO watch; see www-spintso.com for more information.

The rules vary from country to country.  In Sweden it is tax deductable; for other countries please contact your tax authorities.

You can only buy a SPINTSO pda and watch from your country’s distributor.  If there is no distributor for your country you can buy directly from Spintso in Sweden.

As long as you are an active referee, it costs nothing to update your unit.

No, when you use your unit for the first time you must enter a personal code which is then every time you start the unit.

You should contact your local distributor or Spintso directly.  In Sweden there are about 20 referees or former referees who act as educators who you can also contact.

Yes, it is four times more environmentally friendly when using the unit rather than the traditional method of accessing/delivering match information (see the environmental analysis on the Spintso website for more information)

Access the website www.spintso.com and then the Log in page.  There you will find a form which you can fill in after which new login details will be emailed to you.

Log into www.spintso.com with your login details and update your SPINTSO pda with new software.  When you switch on the unit you can then select a new code.

SPINTSO pda are produced, tested and delivered to customers from Leksand in Sweden.

The SPINTSO pda are produced at the moment in black and the watch are produce in black/gray or black/orange

Manuals can be accessed from your SPINTSO pda, in the same way as a USB memory, and can be saved to your computer or printed.  More information is available on the website www.spintso.com.

This can be done in several ways – in your hand using a finger attachment, on your wrist with a wrist strap, in your pocket, or in some other way which suits you.  It is important that you test the various options and find the one which suits you best.

Yes, it is and can be used in rain.

If your unit ’dies’ then the screen is either white or black.  Simply switch the unit on again and wait until the display appears, press the OK button for 2-3 seconds so that all information from the match is loaded again. 

There is a function in the unit for penalty shootouts which is a great help to you as a referee.  Please refer to the manual for details.

Once you have pressed the record button, a red bar appears to indicate that recording is in progress.

SPINTSO pda records all sound from the moment you switch on the unit until you switch it off.  You can only start recording when you are in the main menu and then pressing the record button.

Yes, it is possible to start recording on all units which are connected when someone presses the record button.

Outdoors sound can be captured within a ca 2-3 metres diameter; indoors the area is ca 4-5 metres.

Yes, all sound files are automatically saved in your SPINTSO pda in the RECORD folder in the same way as a USB memory stick.  We recommend that you copy and save the files on eg your computer or an external hard disc.

No, only the SPINTSO pda which are connected can see or send information; everything is encrypted.

When you record a sound file, it is saved in chronological order in the RECORD folder in your Spintso unit, in the same way as a USB memory stick.  All sound files can be listened to directly in your computer or you can move the file to another player eg Mp3.  For best listening quality we recommend that you use headphones.

MP3 format

The units should not be more than 1 meter from each other.  It can take 10-15 seconds before all the units identify and connect with each other. 

A total of 5 units can be connected, 1 master and 4 slave units.

No installations are required. Once connected to a computer you access the SPINTSO pda just like any other USB memory stick, which you can rename to eg Spintso.  NB SPINTSO pda does not function on Mac computers; Windows is the required operating system.

You can save 400-500 matches.  When you generate a match report this is saved automatically in the REPORT folder (the unit functions as a USB memory stick, ( you can open files stored on it using a computer).  Match reports are saved in chronological order with date and time.

If the battery is empty then the unit will not function.  As a referee it is your responsibility to make sure that your SPINTSO pda is fully charged before a match.

A full charge is enough for ca 400 minutes or 4 matches, depending on which functions are used and how often.  Spintso recommends that you charge your unit before every match.

To full charge the unit takes 4-5 hours – it is not possible to referee an entire match of 90+ minutes with a charge of 20-30 min.

Use the plug or USB cable which is included in the Spintso basic set.

You can download all your match details and save them in a personal folder on the SPINTSO pda which functions in the same way as a USB memory stick.  Before the start of a match you connect your SPINTSO pda to a computer (an internet connection is not necessary), then copy and paste the required match file from your personal folder, renaming it match.xml, to the TEAM folder in the unit.  Once this is done, you can use the match details within your SPINTSO pda.
